Grow Towards Your Health & Wellness
Your nutritional lifestyle is so important; eating well can have a significant impact on your health. Learn how to live a long, active life using preventative measures to help you reduce or eliminate medication.
I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters of Education degree in Health and Wellness. I am a Certified Nutritionist (CN) and also a Certified Specialist in Strength and Conditioning (CSSC). I am a lifetime health advocate and very passionate about practicing what I preach. In my free time I do specialized workouts consisting of weight lifting, cross training and running. I consume a healthy nutritional fare and play competitive sports such as softball, volleyball, Spartan races and formerly ran for the St. Louis, MO, Michelob Ultra Running Team for 12 years.
Being a lifelong athlete also comes with intermittent injury. As a functional sports trainer, I provide workouts to help avoid injuries. Proper nutrition and exercise enhance strength, stability, and mobility--an aspect we need to thrive in our day-to-day lives as well as when we play sports. I believe that every muscle group is important to strengthen but feel it is necessary to target the core muscles to enhance overall stability first and foremost.
So, as a result, it is essential to teach proper nutrition and train each individual into an athlete…or a better one. I can train all athletes to become better in any sport, though sprinting and endurance are my specialties. Implementing whole body exercises will develop a strong athlete for any type of sport, regardless of gender. It’s also important to eat more meals made at home, and I will give you the tools to do that. I love to educate and provide a variety of healthy recipes, instruct on how to interpret ingredient labels, eat healthily, understand your macro- and micro-nutrients, stay hydrated and show how consuming a minimum of 90% plant-based foods can promote and improve overall health. Having an undergraduate degree in Psychology, I also share how behavior modifications can assist in each of these areas.
I will conduct a screening assessment that consists of a fingerstick blood sample, insert your sample into an FDA-approved and CLIA-waived CardioChek Plus analyzer that will evaluate your lipid (cholesterol) and glucose (blood sugar) levels in the blood in approximately 2 minutes. Without this analysis, you may not know how your daily routine is affecting these key health markers.
During this assessment I will also conduct a body analysis that will measure your height, weight and waist circumference to determine your body fat and muscle percentage, resting metabolic rate, visceral fat, and active age—a helpful determinant of your overall physical health.
I will then check your blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure may lead to health risks associated with stroke, heart disease and other potentially devastating health maladies.
As an educator in health and wellness, teaching to my clients is important. I will take the time to inform you about what your health and wellness evaluation results mean as this allows you to understand what lifestyle changes may need to occur.
Note: I hold a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Program license and use a FDA-approved and CLIA-waived analyzer for the lipid/glucose sample. This meets National Cholesterol Educational Program (NCEP) guidelines for accuracy and precision.
Don't fall for expensive diet fads that consist of extreme calorie restriction, liquid meals or anything that encourages you to not exercise. Will you lose weight? Probably...but the moment you discontinue these extremely poor diets, you will go back to where you started, and may be even worse off.
I will personally teach you how to consume nutritional, whole food-based fare and NEVER sell you exorbitantly priced gimmicks that promise that "quick fix that never sticks." Losing weight rapidly does not mean you are healthy, but learning to consume whole foods and being active will get you there.
My ultimate goal for you is: learn how to live a long, active life using preventative measures that help you reduce or eliminate medication usage altogether. I can’t stress enough how important your nutritional lifestyle is so much more important than any workout. Eating well can have a significant impact on whether you are able to fight off infections, including our current virus.
As your health and wellness educator I want to help you. I have almost 100 different whole food recipes that help support immune system response, providing essential micronutrients as well as your macronutrients assisting you in an overall healthy lifestyle.
You will never out train a bad diet.
